United States Postal Services Launches An All New USPS Truck Design

Are you ready for these new USPS trucks to hit the streets near you? Of course, Goofy won't be the driver, at least let's hope not lol.

The United States Postal Service is expected to have an all-new Mail Truck hitting the streets by year 2023. After five years of searching for the best fleet-moderations, the USPS has finally awarded the much-needed contract to build the new vehicles to defense contractor Oshkosh Defense of Wisconsin.

  • The contract includes an initial $482 million investment from the USPS to finalize the design of the Next Generation Delivery Vehicle (NGDV).

  • The new vehicles will include both battery-electric vehicles and those with low-emission internal-combustion engines. They are expected to be delivering mail by 2023.

Under the deal, the Postal Service will pay Oshkosh $482 million to finish designing the futuristic-looking truck — called the Next Generation Delivery Vehicle (NGDV) — and build between 50,000 and 165,000 of them over the next decade. The first ones will hit streets in 2023, the Postal Service said.
