World’s Largest Plane Was Destroyed As Russia Continues Their Attack On Ukraine

UPDATE: March 4, 2022. There is now video placed in this article of news coverage showing proof that the plan is destroyed.

We first heard about this sad story on the Inside Edition YouTube channel, we couldn't go without reporting about it ourselves.

When you hear the word "WAR", some of your first thoughts probably are "why are people going to war?" "Isn't there a better answer than to fight?"

It is sad to know that we citizens have no say or power to stop a war.

We as citizens of America can't make decisions for other Countries either when it comes to talk about war, it is up to their leaders to make the best decision, and just like America, some decisions when it comes to war aren't the best ones made.

We depend on our leaders to make the right choice when faced with the decision of peacemaking or war, and it looked like Russia let some of their citizens down on this one.

As a part of any war, there is bound to be some kind of destruction, may it be a building, home or military base, unfortunately something is bound to be destroyed. In this story we will covering a historic plan from Ukraine that broke records of being the biggest plane in the world.

The Antonov-225 cargo plane was destroyed during the Russia invasion of Ukraine.

The plane was having maintenance and repairs done to it at an airfield near Kyiv during the time it was destroyed according to Ukraine’s state-run Ukroboronprom.

Footage by Russian state TV shows live coverage of the wreckage and what was left of the world's largest cargo plane, the Antonov AN-225, which was destroyed near Kyiv as Russia's invaded Ukraine.

Mriya was designed as part of the former Soviet Union's space program. Mriya was the only one completed Ukraine reported.

The plan known as 'Mriya' which translates to “the dream” in Ukrainian will go under the wrench to be repaired and can take up to 5 years to be back to its original self.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba also tweeted about the aircraft.

The six-engine aircraft is 84 meters long and has a wingspan of about 88 meters. It first flew in December 1988 and holds records for transporting the biggest commercial cargo.

“The occupiers destroyed the airplane, but they won’t be able to destroy our common dream,” Ukroboronprom said. “Mriya will definitely be reborn.”
